J. Crew Obsession

Vancouver just opened it's first J. Crew on Robson St. Yes I realize we as a city are a little behind in the times, or stuck in our ways as far as fashion goes. Even after Vancouver was placed on a list for "Worst Dressed Cities" I still see girls doting yoga pants and TNA jackets everyday. Yes yoga pants are comfy, but they are called yoga pants for a reason.

Now back to my new obsession with J. Crew. As I walked into the store the first item I saw was this beautiful white and navy polka-dotted dress.

Then as I walked further into the store I felt overwhelmed by the love for every piece I hope to eventually have in my closet - sigh. I came across the Anchors Aweigh Pants and it was heartbreak at first sight. Retailed at 198$ CDN, I knew if I bought them I probably wouldn't be able to eat all month.

Love, love, love.

Goddess Gathering

After watching an episode of 90210 (the bachelorette party where the bride smashes the shark tank with a baseball bat - hilarious!), the character Silver was wearing this brightly coloured Peruvian style dress. It was love at first sight. I found the dress online at Piperlime and added some really great accessories to make this beautiful dress complete. The only thing in this picture that is missing to make this outfit perfect is a large floppy hat, a summer accessory must!

Shoes: BRIMFIELD by Aldo
Bracelets: H&M and Free People
Dress: Printed Peruvian Maxi Dress by Monrow
Belt: Skinny Belt by OMG Style
Wristlet: Audrey Leather Perforated Go Go by Coach
Sunglasses: H&M

I envision this outfit with a large straw floppy hat

Mother, Mother

Mother's Day is Sunday! I always try to take my mother out on her special day which generally means my outfit has to be "mother approved".So for Sunday brunch minimal is good.

Earings: Forever 21
Shoes: ALLACCESS by Nine West
Dress: Chiffon Dip Hem Dress by TopShop
Bag: Jet Set Leather Tote by Michael Kors
Nail Polish: Ballet Slippers by Essie
Lipstick: Mitzi by NARS
They call it your 'Sunday best' for a reason. So show up in a nice dress, simple makeup, classy shoes, and show your mom what a lady she has made you. She doesn't need to know that you're hungover from the night the before, just the classy girl you are today.

Culture Club

Any travel plans this summer? If not, embrace home with an outfit that makes you feel half a world away.
Shoes: CAPECORAL by Aldo
Lipstick: Vegas Volt by MAC
Bracelets: Forever 21
Top: Lace Ribbon Bustier by American Apparel
Skirt: Embroidered Mini by Free People ONE
Sunglasses: H & M
Purse: Edie Purse by J Crew
Nail polish: Bobbing for Baubles by Essie

The embroidered skirt from Free People is my inspiration for this outfit. It's bohemian vibe gives me the distinct feeling that it could have been bought in a little market over seas in South Asia. I pulled out the green and blue from the skirt and complemented them with city accessories to give the outfit the final touch.

Smells like grunge spirit

As summer approaches, and I have yet to attend an outdoor music festival making festival trends hard to embrace. The pastels and florals don't do much for me inside the city, so instead I find myself directed more towards re-embracing grunge style. So if you are like me and more of a bar-going, show seeker try this on for size.

Sunglasses: Le Specs Wasteland Sunglasses from Urban Outfitters
Pants: MOTO Bleach Acid Leigh Jeans from TopShop
Lipstick: Heatwave by Nars
Bracelet: Forever 21
Tank: TALULA Le Lune Tank from Aritzia
Jacket: MACKAGE Rachel from Aritzia
Nail Polish: Do You Lilac It? by OPI
Eyeliner: Boot Black liquid eyeliner by MAC

To keep the look feminine I added lilac colours to counter the harsh black, and red lipstick to make your face really stand out plus by adding a few light colours it keeps the outfit day appropriate. If you find the weather to be getting to warm for jeans, change it up with a shorts or a denim skirt with ripped tights. Add a pair of low black boots and your outfit is complete.
